“The Law of Attraction and manifestation doesn’t work for me”. How often have you come across this from the followers of this philosophical practice both online and offline?
Unfortunately, the answer probably is “too often”.
The Law or manifestation process is not something that “works” or “doesn’t work” for some people. It works the same way for everyone. And it always works.
If you are feeling this way, probably you have not understood the concept well and/or following the steps correctly. Even if you have, at least some people seem to have pre-existing blockages that may prevent manifestation from happening.

3 things blocking manifestation from happening
1. Subconscious thoughts
You must be practicing one or many of these manifestation techniques – visualization, affirmations, vision board, sleep meditation, or more.
The question here is how much time are you spending every day on these law of attraction exercises? The answer maybe 10 minutes or 20 minutes. Some may even go as far as half an hour or if you are an avid LOA fan your answer would be “up to an hour”.
You must already know that our thoughts turn into realities. In other words, our reality comes from our thoughts. Every single thing that exists in this universe came into being because someone thought of it.
It would be impossible to find something that did not begin from a thought. Everything around us, whether tangible or intangible, started as a thought.
So, coming back to your LOA exercises. It is great that you are spending your precious time doing them every day. However, the question is what are your thoughts during the remaining part of the day?
You must be engaged in work at home or office, or commuting or shopping or working out. All those regular stuffs we all do every day.
When you are doing such routine daily activities, what are your thoughts like? What passes through your mind each second of the day?
Reality is indeed made by our thoughts. It is also true that every single thought of yours turns into reality. This means all of us are manifesting all the time, consciously and unconsciously.
So, when you complain that the Law is not working for you, it is not possible to agree. The Law is best compared to gravity. It exists whether you want it or not, whether you are aware of it or not.
Manifestation is working alright but not exactly the way you want or expect it to work. When you complain that the Law is not working, it must be because you are manifesting things you do not want.
Do you understand why this is happening? What is the reason for this?
When you are engaged in LOA exercises, your thoughts might be focused on what you want. But at other times, the rest of the day, you do not have any control over your thoughts. You are allowing it to roam freely wherever it wants to.
This means you must be having negative thoughts and feelings such as anger, frustration, sadness, depression, jealousy, and more. As we all know, our vibrational frequency determines what we attract, irrespective of whether it is high and positive or low and negative.
Negative thoughts lead to negative happenings. And, this is not what you want.
Your subconscious thoughts are the culprits here. You are manifesting the negative thoughts in your subconscious mind.
The solution to this dilemma is to learn to program your subconscious mind. You should learn to control your subconscious thoughts so that negativity doesn’t creep in unawares.

2. Aligned vibrational frequency
At the risk of being repetitive, I would say again that we attract what we are and have and not what we want. Remember the Law of Attraction tells us that “like attracts Like”. This means we tend to attract things and events that have the same vibrational frequency as ourselves.
Now consider the scenario. You are struggling to pay your bills and rent and want to manifest money to help you out of the financial situation. You are constantly thinking about how you are going to make things work now.
It is okay that you are thinking about your lack of money and the resultant problems and trying to find a solution. This is only natural. But when you start feeling this scarcity, it is going to affect your vibrational frequency and you would end up attracting more of it. Then you would find it difficult to get out of the vicious cycle of financial distress.
The same is the case with love. When you are single and looking for love, you should not allow yourself to feel lonely, sad, or desperate. Because once you start feeling it, you will be attracting more loneliness, and your attempt to manifest love is bound to fail.
The solution to this dilemma is to align your vibrational frequency with that of your desire. In other words, behave as if you have realized your goal. When you are trying to manifest money, you need to feel wealthy and act like one.
To manifest love, you need to feel love or become love. The simple truth is when you are in love, you attract love. The best way to feel love is to be grateful for all the blessings you have received in life. You may even maintain a gratitude journal to help jog your memory and remember all the small and big blessings.
When we are talking about feeling grateful for blessings, you can start with how lucky you are to be alive and healthy. Just feel thankful for every breath you are taking.
You can’t wish for something and say that you are something else. After all, you attract what you are and what you have and not what you want.
3. Attachment to the outcome
There is a fine line dividing focus on the goal and attachment to the outcome. It is not exactly easy to understand the difference.
One of the important steps in manifestation is to maintain an unwavering focus on the goal. The LOA tools such as the vision board are specially designed for this purpose – to remind you of the goal all day long or at least as often as possible.
It is one thing to remember the goal and work towards achieving it and become obsessed with the goal itself. The difference between the two is in the mindset. While focussing on the goal is a positive or abundant mindset, becoming fixated on the goal is a negative and scarcity mindset.
When you really think about it, the obsession with the goal stems from the feeling that you are lacking it. So, the focus is on the absence of the goal rather than the positive aspect of gaining it.
This leads us to the question – how to focus without being obsessed? For this, you need to practice the art of “letting go”. You should focus on the goal and go through the various steps of manifestation but learn to let go of that intense emotion to achieve the goal no matter what.
The goal will be yours only if you understand the importance of letting go of the attachment to the outcome and practice it.
Before you start thinking, “Why is the Law of Attraction not working for me?”, you should ensure that you have understood the Law and the manifestation techniques correctly and follow them in the right spirit.
As a beginner, you may not be able to understand the meanings and implications of the Law and various manifestation techniques accurately or completely. If you are unable to comprehend them well even after a few attempts, you should take the help of a master or a teacher.
Unless you learn to follow the step precisely and avoid the pitfalls in the manifestation path, you would be complaining forever that the Law is not working for you.
Just remember, the Law always works. It is just that it may or may not suit your convenience or comply with your wishes.
